NOT EXACTLY GOING TO PLAN?

Here are a couple of ways an I/O Blade can save you thousands in unplanned (or planned) studio changes.

SoundcardsWhen soundcards no longer make sense. I/O Blades use audio drivers, which means no more expensive soundcards and their breakout boxes, external switches, and the PC you might have to buy to house that soundcard, not to mention all the associated wiring. (Ask us about our new Linux audio drivers.)

When virtual expandability makes sense. Add a virtual mixer, create a studio touchscreen for remote codecs, or put an entire news workstation on a flatscreen. Our ready-made virtual mixers and ScreenBuilder app give you all the tools you need to add touchscreen interfaces to the WheatNet IP audio network, and our Blade 4 gives you all the processing power you’ll need to run those applications right on the I/O Blade itself—no PC required. For ways to virtualize your studio, download Making Sense of the Virtual Studio ebook.

Emergency IntercomWhen you need an emergency intercom. I/O Blades combine audio routing, logic control, and two stereo 8×2 internal mixers in 1RU, which make it convenient to set up IFB communication between locations. Simply connect mics/monitors to Blades on both ends.

Offsite BackupWhen you need an offsite backup for emergencies. Add a Blade I/O unit to your transmitter site(s) or regional studios for automatic failover to another transmitter or studio during an emergency. Includes silence detection and optional embedded clip player(s) for emergency programming. Also, our newer Blade 4s have redundant power supplies, which is exactly the kind of backup support you want out at the transmitter site.

When you need a temporary remote feed from the ballpark. OpusJust select one of the audio codecs built into the Blade 4. This latest Blade is available with optional OPUS codecs and uses RIST connectivity for secure, reliable transport over just about any IP link.

AE567 BadgeWhen you need to route audio through a separate AES67 device at the remote venue. Blade 4 has AES67 multichannel support and packet timing adaptability to interoperate with a wide range of environments and gear, from pro equipment to other AoIP networks.
