The hybrid analog/digital Lightning console strikes that balance between digital and analog, combining the best in a standalone console with the latest in modern conveniences such as USB and Bluetooth® connectivity.
Available in a 12- or 16-channel tabletop frame, Lightning provides access to analog and mic sources locally, yet gives you access to editing software, Skype or other external sources through USB and Bluetooth.
Lightning is part of the Audioarts Engineering studio line, Wheatstone’s value line that includes headphone amps, talent stations, consoles, and control surfaces.
Lightning is a digitally-enabled analog console that operates as a full standalone console. It contains a patchable AES input for connecting a digital source to any fader, and built-in A/D conversion for the main program output so operators can access the program air feed as balanced analog, AES3 digital, or both simultaneously. USB and Bluetooth onboard connectivity is useful for playing audio directly from a PC or to output audio to edit in VoxPro or other recording software, as well as receive and record calls from Bluetooth enabled cellphones or play cuts from MP3 players. Lightning is modular in design with four channel input panels, and a Master/Monitor panel with linear faders for headphone and control room level control. All switches are LED illuminated and input channels have A/B source selection, with balanced line in for the A source and trimmable -10 to +4 line in on B.
Clean power is key to component longevity and exceptional console performance. The rackmount SPS-202 for Lightning consoles are engineered and built by Wheatstone to maximum peak-tolerant specifications to ensure the reliable operation of your most mission-critical studio components for an extended period. Studios are regularly exposed to surges and voltage spikes that can take a toll on equipment. Off-the-shelf power supplies won’t suffice when a 2,000-volt spike comes down the line, yet these commercial supplies are frequently used in many broadcast consoles, leading to a shortened lifespan and reduced reliability over time. Our power supplies are engineered by Wheatstone and manufactured in our factory alongside our consoles and talent stations, all developed specifically to meet the demands and rigors of broadcasting day after day, year after year.
If you have a Wheatstone, Audioarts, or VoxPro product, you’re an important member of the Wheatstone family and we want to hear from you, whether you have questions or need technical support, we are here for you.
