Streamblade & Wheatstream

Appliances for Provisioning and Processing Multiple Streams

Streamblade and Wheatstream
Meet Streamblade & Wheatstream

These streaming appliances provision and process multiple streams and manage the metadata of each stream. Rich in features, including metadata support and Nielsen encoder option, Streamblade/Wheatstream accepts 8 input streams, each capable of four outputs for a total of 32 output streams. Unique to Streamblade/Wheatstream is its audio processing designed specifically for optimizing encoded streamed audio quality and presence. These appliances come in either a WheatNet IP audio network Blade option (Streamblade) or standard option without Blade I/O and functions (Wheatstream).

STREAMBLADE/WHEATSTREAM

Appliances for stream provisioning and audio processing
  • High Output Capacity: Streams up to eight programs at once, each with four outputs for a total of 32 streams. Provision all or just a few and add on later.
  • All-Inclusive Linux and AoIP Appliance: No Windows® drivers, updates or PC needed.
  • Audio Processing Designed Specifically for Streaming: Full suite of audio processing tools developed specifically for streaming. Optimize the performance of encoded audio content with the right amount and type of processing for maintaining uniform levels, spectral balance and absolute peak control.
  • Optimized Quality/Loudness For the Bitstream: Final limiting occurs separately in two bands, above and below 180Hz, to provide the ideal balance between perceived quality and loudness for a given finite bitstream. For low bitrate streams especially, separately managing low frequencies means being able to selectively remove low frequencies in the stereo difference channel (L-R). This leaves more bits available for encoding those frequencies that are more perceptible.
  • Multiple Encoding Options: Provides selectable AAC, MP3 or Opus encoders targeting high to low bit rates for reaching a broad range of end user devices and players.
  • Metadata Agnostic: Lua transformation filters adapt metadata input from any automation system into any required output format for streaming of song title, artist and artwork data.
  • Compatible With Standard Protocols, CDNs and Streaming Platforms: Supports Triton, HLS, Icecast, RTMP, and RTP streaming protocols.
  • Ratings Friendly: Nielsen encoder option available. The PPM watermark is inserted after the dual-band limiter to avoid interference with codec performance.
  • AES67 Compatible: Interoperable with other AES67 compatible devices and networks.
  • BS.1770 Compliant  Loudness Control: Manages loudness between -24 and -10 LUFS.
  • Add to Any AoIP Network: Add Streamblade to your WheatNet-IP audio network or add Wheatstream to any existing AoIP network, including WheatNet-IP or any existing AES67 compatible network.
  • User-Friendly Control: Configurable and manageable from a laptop or web browser or via WheatNet IP NAVIGATOR software (Streamblade).

    OVERVIEW

    STREAMBLADE/WHEATSTREAM

The Streamblade/Wheatstream appliance can be added to the studio IP audio network for provisioning multiple program streams, managing metadata, and processing streamed audio for level consistency, spectral balance and peak control. Streamblade/Wheatstream’s audio processing is designed specifically to manage audio overshoots and optimize program sound without interfering with the streaming codec’s performance. It can adapt metadata input from most major automation systems and is compatible with standard CDN and streaming platforms for one easy workflow from automation to content delivery.

Streamblade includes Blade I/O and functions and can be added to any WheatNet IP audio network. Wheatstream has all the same features as Streamblade, but does not include I/O and Blade functions, and therefor can be added to any existing AoIP network, including a WheatNet IP or AES67 compatible network.
