OLED displays are great, that is, until they begin to fade. Whether it’s on your mobile phone, television, or audio console, all OLED displays will fade out over time.
To prolong the life of OLEDs over the life of Wheatstone consoles, we set the default OLED brightness setting to dim. In April of this year, we also began adding clear UV protective lenses to our audio consoles. After all, the average radio station uses our consoles for ten years or more (compared to most phones, which are used for 2 to 4 years at the most).
Exposure to UV light can cause OLED displays to fade out prematurely. These lenses mount between the screen and the metalwork to block UV light from reaching the screen.
Think of them as a clear pair of sunglasses for your console.
If you purchased your LXE, GSX, L-Series or DMX console after April 2026, your console should already have clear UV protective lenses. If you purchased your console before the April 2026 manufacturing date, contact our support team ([email protected]) to get a retrofit kit of protective lenses for your console(s). The kit is free of charge, and we highly recommend you install it to prolong the life of those OLEDs. To obtain a retrofit kit, please contact us. We’ll need to know what type of console you have, how many faders, and your shipping address.
