Wheat Support to Parts Unknown
Even after 18 years on the job as a repair technician in the Wheatstone factory, Jack Cosgrove still runs into the odd Wheatstone product he never knew existed. “I’ve never actually seen an 8X console, but I know they’re out there because I’ve worked on a replacement module for one,” he says.
Over the past two decades, he’s seen just about every console, network unit, audio processor and equalizer ever made by Wheatstone. That’s because virtually every Wheatstone product ever manufactured is still supported in our factory in New Bern, NC (and some others as well, like the VoxPro line we acquired last year).
The 3100 parametric equalizer. The 4K and the 8K. The R60, D6000, A6000, A500, even the 8X. They're all accounted for and still supported by Wheatstone.
We keep a huge, well-maintained inventory of replacement parts in our factory, even if it means finding alternate sources two or three generations removed for parts that are no longer available. We also stock modules and circuit assemblies for older consoles, all tested and ready to go. If we need to make more, we have sample modules and assemblies for products dating all the way back to our first parametric equalizer manufactured in our Grey Barn in Bethany, CT. We also keep old reference processors and other units on the shelf or in test frames so we can troubleshoot units customers send in for repair, test them accurately, and return them to their owners almost as good as new.
You never know when someone, somewhere will need parts or repair assistance – or what Wheatstone product they might still have in operation after all these years. We understand that our very own CEO, Gary Snow, still keeps a 30-year-old 5200 disco mixer in his home studio. “It wouldn’t be good to run out of parts for that,” says Jack.
The parts are stocked and Wheat technicians are available, just in case.
If anyone out there has an 8X console, Jack would appreciate it if you could snap a picture and send it to him at j[email protected].
