D-8EX packs a lot of mixing power into a small space, making it an ideal companion in your remote truck or secondary on-air/production room.

The D-8EX  incorporates an incredible amount of functionality. Up to 48 channels of mix-minus / N-1 output, surround panning, and per-channel delay are just a few of the functions rarely found in consoles at this price. This console also includes an intuitive touchscreen for metering and for lesser used, set-and-forget controls.

A PAGE button on each channel of the D-8EX lets you access a second channel with full, immediate recall of that channel's settings, effectively doubling the channel capacity of the console. The D-8EX features 24 motorized input faders, true surround, four submasters, two main busses, two AUX sends, and 4-band parametric EQ, filters, compressor/limiter, and expander/gate.

Like other Wheatstone television consoles, the D-8EX is a control surface; all audio I/O is on the audio network.

WheatNet-IP Audio Network

The D-8EX interfaces into the WheatNet-IP audio network, a fully integrated system that ships with all the audio tools, control functions, and network capabilities needed to take full advantage of IP audio. It is also available with the Gibraltar IP Mix Engine for DSP resources and Gibraltar network integration. The Gibraltar IP Mix Engine can handle 1,024 channels of audio, giving Wheatstone IP consoles the ability to handle challenging productions. All the mixes generated by the D-8EX can be routed to any available outputs on the audio network, including input faders on other network-connected control surfaces. Operators can assign any source of any type to any fader, and share I/O resources with other consoles in the network. This kind of power and modular flexibility provides the extra redundancy that is so critical to broadcast operations, with auto-failover DSP processing on board and the kind of I/O connectors that stand up to the broadcast environment, not to mention easy setup and operation.

Utilizing the Wheatstone network technology, the D-8EX can be configured with any combination of analog and digital inputs. Those inputs can be mono mic or line, stereo, or 5.1. Stereo and 5.1 surround output busses allow you to feed both your HD and SD program streams with no fuss.
